Anyone who wants to learn. Edcamps traditionally draw teachers and educators of all levels, but anyone is welcome. Edcamps are built around conversations and different perspectives make the room better. As Angela Maiers says “the genius is the room.” Students, firefighters, parents, and anyone else who wants to learn are welcome to attend Edcamp Michiana.

What sessions will be happening at EdCamp Michiana?

  • Unlike traditional conferences which have schedules set months in advance by the people running the conference, EdCamp has an agenda that’s created by the participants at the start of the event. Instead of one person standing in front of the room talking for an hour, people are encouraged to have discussions and hands-on sessions. Sponsors don’t have their own special sessions or tables, all of the space and time are reserved for the things the people there want to talk about. People could pay hundreds of dollars to attend another conference, or they could go to Edcamp for free… bring a friend!

What time should I arrive?

Registration and continental breakfast starts at 8:30am. The program and kickoff will begin at 9am.

What do I need to bring?

You. Your energy, insights, and expertise. We need exactly what you have to offer. Don’t be shy, we’re all learning from each other.

Your device of choice can be helpful if you want to share digital tools and resources. JYMS has excellent wi-fi coverage. If you think you might want to share something from your laptop and it does not have a VGA connection, go ahead and throw a connector (dongle) in your bag. What you’re an expert in, might be just the thing that someone else needs to learn.
